Barentsburg is a Russian coal mining town on the Norwegian island, Spitsbergen, the northernmost inhabited place in the world. Adrian Briscoe spent a summer documenting the lives of the people there and also offered a free film school to miners, scientists and their children. The films they helped make are fused with the nonfiction narrative, and the film subtly changes from a documentary into a work of fantasy
