VLOG, Gulping Hainanese chicken rice at its birthplace in Wenchang, Go Hainan

For more: Singapore and Malaysia both claim to be the place of origin for Hainanese chicken rice, the smoothskinned, sweet, firmfleshed dish served with brothboiled rice. But, if Hainanese chicken rice didn t originate from Hainan, why does it have that name I arrived in Wenchang, the birthplace of Hainanese chicken rice, to try and track down the most authentic Wenchang chicken. But on my journey, I saw buildings in Baroque style and had the socalled British afternoon tea, and I couldn t help wondering if I m really on the island of Hainan.
