Four years before the Village People made their gay macho debut, celebrity hairdresser Monti Rock III (born Joseph Montenez Jr on May 29, 1942) was making the rounds of The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and The Merv Griffin Show dressed as a Mack Daddy in furs, rings and hat as kind of a running gay joke.
