President OH Caldwell of the New York Electrical Society stands before a complicatedlooking machine and explains that the machine can taste and register the flavours of different kinds of fruit, giving out the relevant sound through a loudspeaker. He puts a pronged dial leading from the machine into an apple and we hear a mediumpitched sound. He does the same with a banana, an orange and a lowly lemon, each producing a higher sound than the last it s very funny A piece of strong cheese sounds like someone breaking wind.
