Clever Batty Feet And Naughty Photo Bombs
Flyingfoxes are highly intelligent and they are problem solvers. Many behaviours are instinctual whilst many others are learnt but however this knowledge is ultimately obtained, these skills are invaluable for a life in the wild. Using a foot to hold onto a large piece of fruit is very clever behaviour and it allows a flyingfox to grab a decent piece of something scrumptious before flying off to enjoy it at their leisure. This behaviour ensures that even the youngest bat gets a bite to eat when times are tough and food is less plentiful. I know it seems harsh but we don t want our rescued bats associating predatory humans with food which is why the Black bat in the middle of the video was reprimanded.
