Stan Phone Call Clepsydra Phil Solomon, 1992
I accidentally left my answering machine to continue to record after I picked up a message in progress from Stan Brakhage about his overwhelming response to seeing the premiere of my new film Clepsydra (1992) at his apartment the night before with Marilyn. He offered genuine enthusiasm, good aesthetic counsel, sage advice, fellowship and compassion, and the brilliance and intelligence of his uniquely personal takes. I was very lucky to have such a friend and this conversation is why I miss him so much at this time in my life, back here on planet Earth, where his phone has stopped ringing. Bless you, Stan. Remembering the day you left us to fend for ourselves. Stan Brakhage (January 14, 1933 March 9, 2003)
