Steam Devils, Whirls and Whispers

Toronto experienced an extreme cold snap on the weekend of February 13 and 14, 2016. As the temperature dropped rapidly to minus 39 degrees celsius, a rare phenomenon known as steam devils, whirls, whispers occurred during the early morning hours over Lake Ontario and the inner harbour. I was able to timelapse the spectacle from my balcony and nearby Cherry Beach with my Canon 6D and GoPro Hero 4. Unfortunately this phenomenon subsided by mid morning on the 14th as the inner harbour froze over. There is beauty to behold (even when it s cold) in this city 2016, Randy Hoffmann
