Franz Liszt Après une lecture du Dante: Fantasia quasi Sonata S. 161, 7 ( Pavel Artemiev)
Uploaded this video cause I liked the performance and the performer asked me to upload it anyways so whatev. Anyways, Après une lecture du Dante: Fantasia quasi Sonata which a bit of a mouthful, but you can call it Dante Fantasia for short. I dunno why people call this piece a Sonata tbh, it says right in the title that it isn t one. That s like calling Beethoven s 14th Sonata; Moonlight Fantasia, which I admit is a pretty neat name, but not really correct. Ok, so back on track, this piece was originally composed in 1839 as S. 158a, but was then revised to S. 158b in the same year and that was done again as S. 158c still in the same year. Then Liszt kinda just left it be for a while until he started working on his 2nd Années de Pèlerinage book from 18461849 and revised this work for the last time as S. 161, 7 and finally published it in 1858, so yeah.
