After a heavy snowfall in February 1855, a mysterious set of tracks, dubbed the devil s footprints appeared across the English countryside. The hooflike marks appeared overnight and covered a distance of 40 to 100 miles (60 to 160 km) through East and South Devon. They crossed rivers and rooftops and even up walls.
