During World War 2, there were a number of countries that used spies to try and get the upper hand on their enemies. But as the war turned against the Germans, things got very desperate and members of the Hitler Youth were carrying out spying on their enemies. But at the end of the conflict, there were a couple of teenagers who were condemned and sentenced to death for the fact they had been caught spying on the American Army. Heinz Petry was just 16 when he was sentenced to death, and Josef Schoner was just 17. There were calls for their death sentences to be revoked as the war had come to an end in Europe, however the Americans confirmed that their executions would go ahead. The two teenagers were brought to a firing range, and they were secured to a post and then an American firing squad were stood opposite them.
