Fishing Boat At Work (1946)
Germany. German fishing trawlers put to sea to fish for the first time in over a year. Stoker heaps coals into a fire to get steam up. Engine pistons in motion. Trawlers at sea. Pan along deck, fishermen mending nets. Fleet leaving in heavy seas. A fishing basket is hoisted to the masthead to signify that fishing is in progress. Nets in water. Fishermen haul the loaded nets onto the deck of the trawler. Loaded nets are lowered onto the deck by means of a crane. Heaving mass of fish wiggling and squirming on the deck. A shark suspended head down by its tail, and is cut open and cleaned. Fishermen sorting and cleaning fish, and packing them into the holds with ice. Seagulls swarming above the deck.
