Snorkeling and Swimming at Wilson Creek Wild and Scenic River
Carole and I drove up on Friday morning to Wilson Creek hoping to beat the crowds to a specific swimming hole that has a sandy beach. We don t even go to Wilson Creek on weekends and holidays anymore because of the crowds, noise, and trash left behind by inconsiderate jerks. But weekdays are a different matter, even on Fridays. While we didn t have the place to ourselves (and didn t expect to), there were not too many people at the spot we prefer. The water wasn t as clear as I m accustomed because people had already stirred up the sand. I did manage to see some fish while snorkeling, including one large brook trout. I also managed to fall once, suffering an abrasion on my left arm. And, when leaving, I blundered into some yellowjackets a passing woman had stirred up and the insects targeted me. I ended up suffering 13 stings. So, while I had a good time snorkeling and sunbathing, I paid for the experience.
