Hurricane Beryl makes landfall in Mexico after wreaking havoc in the Caribbean
Hurricane Beryl made landfall on Mexicos coast, near the resort of Tulum, as a Category 2 storm after leaving a trail of destruction through the Caribbean. The U. S. National Hurricane Centre says Beryl is expected to rapidly weaken to a tropical storm as it crosses over the Yucatan Peninsula before reemerging in the Gulf of Mexico and likely regaining hurricane strength. Beryl caused widespread damage to several Caribbean islands, including extreme damage to the islands of Carriacou and Petite Martinique where 70 and 97 per cent of buildings were damaged, respectively. The severity of damages in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl are tangible and devastating, said Rhea Pierre, the IFRCs disaster manager for the English and Dutchspeaking Caribbean. She added that Caribbean countries are bearing the brunt of the damage from devasting storms such as Beryl. For more info, please go to Subscribe to G
