Pete has moved on, as of 15 January, from a life of glorious talent, endless love and respect, and brutal health challenges. I met Pete in 2000, at Winfield, when I was offered the honor of awarding him his trophy and title of National Fingerpicking Champion. Besides being well convinced that he was a kickass guitar player, when I handed him his trophy and looked into his face, I saw a man who s life had contained no shortage of pain, but no shortage of gift and triumph. In spite of the immense physical
