AN INTERIOR LIFE, William Johnston and his Collection 17 Feb 2020 22 Sep 2020 AN INTERIOR LIFE presents a new arrangement of William Johnstons collection in Fairhall, the exhibitionhouse. Inspired by Johnstons friend, and later Trustee of the Collection, John Rogan suggested that The objective in the presentation of Fairhall will be to maintain the atmosphere created by William Johnston and to build on this atmosphere. Fairhall is recreated with a relaxed English Country House style treatment inspired by the looks of the great English designers Sybil Fowler and John Colefax, of Colefax and Fowler, London. Over his lifetime Johnston assembled the most astonishing collection now comprising more than 1, 400 objects of mostly 18th century English furniture, paintings, ceramics and objet dart, now regarded as one of the best collections of its kind in Australasia.
