Ice Man (1955)
St. Moritz, Switzerland. L, S of snowy landscape with town of St Moritz nestling amongst the mountains. M, S of mountain with icicles hanging down in the foreground of the shot. M, S of a man standing on some frozen water slicing through it with a large saw. He is cutting blocks of ice. L, S of him cutting through the ice. C, U of the saw cutting through the ice which has formed on a frozen lake. A chunk is loosened. Narrator informs us that the man is Henri Rogantini. His job is to cut and deliver iceblocks to local hotels where it is stored for use in the summer months. Henri uses a long handled pick to lift out the block of ice and it is stacked up with other pieces. M, S of Henri standing on the back of a sledge which is pulled by a horse. Another man assists Herni to load up the sledge with ice blocks various shots of the two of them loading the sledge and Henri moving off. FILM A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ.
