Early Morning COTSWOLDS Village WALK Discovering the Charm of Fulbrook Village
Fulbrook is on the edge of the Cotswolds Area of Natural Beauty. Fulbrook is a village and civil parish immediately northeast of Burford in West Oxfordshire, separated by the River Windrush. The Domesday Book of 1086 recorded the village as Fulebroc, possibly meaning foul brook. According to The Domesday Book, Fulbrook once had a greater population than Burford. The Church of St. James the Great is a Norman church, showing traces of earlier Saxon work. The north aisle was added about 1200 and the porch in the late 13th century. There is a fine English Yew tree in the churchyard with a girth of over 19 feet which has been professionally estimated to be nearly 1000 years old.
