Country Dancers of Westchester danced Newcastle without prompting at their 2011 Celebration of Spring Ball. The dance, reconstructed by Cecil Sharp from Playford s Dancing Master, has the classic Playford format of leading, siding, and arming, each followed by a unique chorus. Thanks to the dancers for their lovely dancing, and kudos to Leah Barkan, piano; John Austin, violin and viola; Sue Polansky, clarinet; and Mark Eisenberg, recorders, for their enticing rendition of the tune.
