Three Years Hard (1928)

This isn t a tale about a gaol it s about the great St Lawrence Bridge at Quebec L, S of the iron bridge. A train crosses it. Funny shot of men appearing out of holes in the top of the bridge. They wave their hands out first, then climb out. They re just on the job of painting it, and the job takes three years to do High angle of the bridge with a train approaching. L, S of men climbing up the huge iron girders. They look tiny. Vertiginous shots of the painters at work. C, U of two men painting with spray guns. One of the men suddenly turns around and sprays the camera (or probably a piece of glass in front of the camera ) Shots from all sorts of weird angles showing the men at work. Various shots of steam train travelling over the bridge. The men run along over the top of the bridge as it is the end of the day s work.
