Ghost doctors haunt South Korea s thriving plastic surgery industry

Ghost doctors are standin medical workers who perform the procedure instead of the hired surgeon. Its done to increase the number of surgeries conducted, maximising profits. One victim of the practice is Kwon Daehee, who died of severe bleeding after undergoing jawline surgery in 2016. CCTV footage showed the 26yearold was left unattended during surgery. The victims family was reportedly compensated 430 million won (US386, 900) in 2019, while the surgeons involved face manslaughter charges.
