Chantecler by Jeanne Delmar (1910)
Original listing and sheet music here: Chantecler was the name of a French play which premiered in 1910 where the main character was a rooster. It is also the name of this robust Canadian march twostep, selfpublished in Montreal in 1910 by an otherwise unknown composer. Stick around for the Trio, it ll get you hopping. Researcher JohnJ1995 informs me that the play also inspired a number of other compositions from 1910, some using the English adapted title Chanticleer.
