Armenian song Hayots hovik (Armenian breeze), performed by Gyumri State Folk Instruments Ensemble. Lyrics by Ludvig Dourian, music by Khachatour Avetisian. Vocal by Karen Mayilian, Art director and conductor: Jemma Qaghtsrikian. This song is about the longing for the lost motherland. The hero of the song is a person, who has migrated from his ancestral land, or later generations who, through historical memory, long for the soil and water, nature and oldage places of that land. As a result of the Armenian Genocide the greatest part of Armenians was annihilated. And the other part passing a very hard road found refuge in foreign countries or in a tiny part of the motherland which at that time was under the rule of the Russian Empire. And now this Armenian appeals to the breeze from the Armenian lost land which has passed the roads trodden by his forbears, breathed the scent of the mountains and fields, played with the waves of those rivers and lakes in which young girls and women used to
