Royalty See Fashion Show (1959)
Titles read: LONDON ROYALTY SEE FASHION SHOW. Hanover Square, London. Various shots of models parading about a stage in the latest fashions from the Incorporated Society of London Fashion Designers while The Queen Mother and Princess Margaret watch from the audience. The royals are sitting with fashion designers Victor Stiebel and John Cavanagh. Great shots of late 50s evening fashions and suits by Charles Creed, Hardy Amies, John Cavanagh, Michael Sherard, Ronald Paterson and Norman Hartnell. Some of the models bow or curtsey. At the end of the show the models are presented to the Queen Mother. She walks along the line of mannequins on the stage and chats to them. Final shot shows the models curtseying (a few have a little trouble in those formfitting gowns). Interesting notes on file detail all the outfits worn and give transcription of introductory verses written by fashion historian James Laver that were spoken at the event by actress Constance Cummings.
