Atlas Catalan (1375), Au cœur des cartes
LAtlas catalan est un recueil de cartes enluminées, reliées à la manière dun livre. Destiné au roi de France, il lui donnait à voir une image de la totalité du monde connu à son époque. A des renseignements géographiques, politiques et économiques, se mêlent sur ces cartes les légendes antiques et les merveilles de lAsie lointaine; cellesci ont pour source des récits médiévaux, tel le Devisement du Monde de Marco Polo.
