La Marseillaise
La Marseillaise is the national anthem of France since 14 July, 1795. Also, it was France s first anthem. La Marseillaise was composed by Claude Joseph Rouget de Lisle (10 May, 1760 26 June, 1836). It was banned by Napoleon Bonaparte and Louis XVIII on 1815. At that time under Napoleon I s reign, Veillons au Salut de l Empire became the unofficial anthem (First Empire 18041815).
