Jewelled Stockings (1955)
Uxbridge, Middlesex. C, U of a paintbrush being dipped into a pot of clear glue then daubed onto the heel of a bright red stocking. A jewel is applied with a pair of tweezers. L, S showing two women sitting at a table working on decorating stockings which are stretched over fake legs Behind them is a display of their brightly coloured stockings stretched over display legs. C, U of one of the women as she concentrated on her task. Over the shoulder shot shows the woman at work, and the leg she is working on. She picks up tiny jewels with her tweezers. The innovator of this process is Gertrude Carmichael. C, U of a woman s legs as she walks down a catwalk. She turns to show the camera her sparkly jewelled stockings. The jewels are stuck on the heel of the stocking and a little way up the leg. She leans down to stroke her stockings ( ) revealing that her glove is also patterned with the diamante.
