Contact with amateur radio station ON3 UN
I had not used the gold dust twins for months, and that is not a good thing, so I put them on the air today on 20 meters and had a few contacts, including one with ON3UN, Dirk in Turnhout (Belgium). The band was full of static and not in very good shape, but there were some good signals from Europe. The set is made of a Collins KWS1 transmitter and a 75A4 receiver. They were made in 1956, and they are still going strong with an output power of about 800W and a pleasant received SSB audio through its 2. 5kHz mechanical filter. Audio reports for the transmitter are usually very good too.
