Fish of the Salobra River Pantanal wetlands of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil
Footage from the Salobra River in the Pantanal wetlands, Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. This was recorded in March 2020, when usually the region is still flooded due to the heavy rains of the wet season. The water level would be high, flow minimal and the clarity of the water would be much better, with fewer particles of sediment suspended in the water column. Unfortunately, the last wet season was very short, with little rain. As such, the water level was low and the current very strong, lifting up debris and clouding the water, making it hard to film or produce clear images, so I apologise for the poor quality of this video. List of species I have collected from the Salobra River delta between 2018 and 2020: Characidium laterale (Boulenger, 1895) Hoplias misionera Rosso, Mabragaña, GonzálezCastro, Delpiani, Avigliano, Schenone et al. 2016 Pygocentrus nattereri Kner, 1858 Serrasalmus maculatus Kner, 1858 Serrasalmus marginatus Valenciennes, 1837 Leporinus friderici (Bloch, 1794) Leporinus striatus Kner, 18
