Sky news : Emily 30, was misdiagnosed by a PA twice before eventually dying of a blood clot in 2022
Emily had initially called her GP had a complaint of a pain in her calf, but a physician associate recommended paracetamol. Emily had a second appointment, she was diagnosed with a calfsprain, long Covid and anxiety but failed to examine her calves. Emily later died of a pulmonary embolism, but a coroner concluded her life would have been saved if she had immediately been referred to A E. After Emilys death the Doctors union say ban physician associates from diagnosing patients. Unfortunately we can t turn back time but we can learn from their mistakes either misdiagnose, trial and error, sometimes malpractice. I m sure the NHS will learn from their mistakes as we all know loosing someone in your family or a friend is heartbreaking.
