Flower Power (1968)
Spalding, Lincolnshire. Several shots of tulips growing in fields in Spalding. We then see various floats of different shapes covered in tulip heads for a flower parade; people put the finishing touches to floats that are gathered in a field prior to the carnival. M, S of a marching band coming along the road towards us; people are crowded either side of the road. Various shots of the floats moving along the carnival route including one shaped like a train, another carries Miss Tulipland, a fairy tale coach and horses (all made from flower heads), a model of the Tower of London, a (real) woman riding a huge (flowered) horse. Footage of the procession is intercut with shots of the crowd. My favourite is in the shape of a huge octopus, surrounded by mermaids (real) and flowered goldfish and with some kind of Tulip Queen sitting on the top.
