The E28 M5 is the BMW Motorsportdeveloped version of the E28 5 Series. It uses the M88 or S38 twincam 24valve inlinesix first introduced in the M1. It also has a BMW Motorsporttuned chassis and a few special cosmetic pieces. The M5 debuted at the 1985 Amsterdam Motor Show.
