Albanese making a virtue of not telling us what Voice is: Tony Abbott
PM Anthony Albanese is making a virtue of not telling Australians what the Voice to Parliament actually is, says former prime minister Tony Abbott. Mr Abbott joined Sky News Australia host Peta Credlin to express his concerns on the scope of power a Voice could have and if its decisions could be left to an the unelected and essentially unaccountable body. He said his government was committed to the Uluru Statement in full something like 34 times and yet he still hasnt read it, Mr Abbott said. It is bizarre, you wouldnt buy a car without knowing something about it. We dont know how big the Voice would be, we dont know the scope of its powers, we very much that it will probably be in the end up to the unelected and essentially unaccountable high court to determine these things. We are being asked to sign a blank cheque on our Constitution and that is not something sensible people would do.
