GAME RECAP: Penguins vs. Wild , Kasperi Kapanen s Hat Trick
After a big overtime win against their crossstate rivals, the Penguins set their sights on Minnesota. This would be the final game of Pittsburghs franchiserecord eightgame homestand before the team would head off on the road again. Kaprizov opened the scoring for Minnesota. Kasperi Kapanen, however, had the answer. Kapanen scored the next two goals, giving Pittsburgh a 21 lead heading into the 2nd period. Jake Guentzel tallied his second goal in as many games, but Spurgeon deflected in a shot to keep Minnesota within one. The stage was set for Kasperi Kapanens first career hat trick. Kapanen had scored two goals in a game six times throughout his career, but never was able to get the third one to go in. That drought was finally broken. Kapanens hat trick made it 42 in favor of the black and gold. Spurgeon would go on to score again, and then Hartman scored with under three seconds left in regulation to tie things up, 44. After an exciting overtime period, the game went to a shootout. Former Pittsburg
