Turkey: Police seize more than 1, 000 fake life jackets during Izmir raid

Police seized 1, 263 fake life jackets during a raid on a factory in Izmir, Thursday. During the raid, authorities also discovered two young Syrian children working at the facility. The poorquality, counterfeit life jackets were filled with sponges and rags and sold for around 30 Turkish liras each. Izmir has become a major gateway for refugees trying to reach Greece from Turkey, making it a market place for counterfeit products designed to assist refugees crossing the Mediterranean Sea.
