Youkali Dance 1 of A Mid Summer Night by Moria Chappell
An excerpt from the larger show A MidSummer Night, this opening piece is named after the song for which it was choreographed by Moria Chappell with Bagoas on vocals and August Hoerr on accordion. A MidSummer Night was a collaborative production based on themes of fantasy and dreamscape. 4 days prior to its performance, 3 primary choreographers (Moria Chappell, Victoria Teel, and Petite Jamilla) taught the entire show to a mixed level group of performers at Hard Raq Bellydance Festival. The dancers who auditioned were from various backgrounds: professional, semiprofessional, and student dancers; yet all were united in devoting their shared passion for belly dance, world dance, and fusion dance. My deepest gratitude to all Chappell (Artistic Director) Performers: Moria Chappell, Bagoas, August Hoerr, Lisa Vega, Ilea Mcgee Rice, April Patrick, Victoria Valree, Janie Deroche, Sherry Merrit, Elizabeth Kerry, and Tina Zhao.
