The SECRET to Making Amazing Scroll Saw Art, Scroll Saw Woodworking
I love this picture drawn by Paul Davidson. Any guesses as to who it is Well, youll have to watch the video to find out I came across this picture and knew I had to turn it into a scroll saw art piece. Fortunately, there are not a lot of pieces. Theres the hat, face, arm, and fist. Three of those use the same species of wood. I used a No. 5 reverse tooth blade for the entire project. This project started by making a walnut picture frame. I wanted the fist to look like it was punching through the frame so I had to do something Ive never done before, cut the frame with a scroll saw. I had to make the rabbet for the frame extra deep to allow me to cut the frame. It felt wrong, but turned out right. The artwork starts with a sheet of 1, 2 thick MDF. I made my own veneer and glued wenge on one side and cherry on the other. If I had a cheaper type of hardwood I would have that instead. The wenge is all that really matters. Thats for the dark areas of the picture. I
