A Quick Shave and Brush Up (1900)
Like G. A. Smith s earlier Old Man Drinking a Glass of Beer (1898), A Quick Shave and BrushUp is a vehicle for the Brighton comedian Tom Green, whose various grimaces when shaving and grooming himself constitute the entertainment. It s also a record of a time when cutthroat razors were a standard part of a gentleman s toiletry kit. All titles on the BFI Films channel are preserved in the vast collections of the BFI National Archive. To find out more about the Archive visit
