C, U of a man sitting behind a desk, more men crowd around him looks like they are volunteering to help run essential services during strike, results of a government appeal. The man behind the desk shakes hands with another man. Panning M, S of a tram terminal, one tram slowly moves away a crowd of men mill about nearby, several policemen appear to be guarding the trams. L, S of a boat coming down the River Mersey in Liverpool, the Liver Building can be seen in the distance. Panning L, S of an industrial skyline looking over water (River Mersey again ). C, U of a crowd of schoolboys and men gathered around a notice board behind some railings. M, S of a small crowd gathered outside the Transport and General Workers Union building. M, S of men taking the blinkers and reigns off some pit ponies above ground for the first time thanks to striking miners.
