MARI TRADITIONAL WEDDING
The film shows a traditional Mari wedding. The Mari people have not lost their customs and many traditions have survived until the present day. Some wedding rites have their roots in paganism. Weddings were usually held on Fridays, because that was the day on which the Maris went to the sacred forest to pray. This day has been kept as a holy day until now and every new wedding begins on a Friday. The shootings of film were passed on 9. 08 1998 in village Tygyde Morko, Republic Mari El. The author of film thanks the young pair Mariya and Jury Grigorjev and the inhabitants of the village Tygyde Morko. P.
