The seventh track off Physical Graffiti, In the Light was composed mostly by bassist, keyboardist John Paul Jones using a synthesizer. For the songs intro, guitarist Jimmy Page used a violin bow to play his guitar (as he had previously done on Dazed and Confused and How Many More Times), giving it a unique sound to compliment the synthesizer. The track was built upon a previouslywritten song called In the Morning, and was originally titled Take Me Home. Led Zeppelin were never able to play the track live because the sound of the synthesizer could not be reproduced outside the recording studio. Jimmy Page labelled the song as a followup to Stairway to Heaven.
