The destruction of the Kakhovka dam in Ukraine is proving an environmental and economic disaster. It represents another blow to Ukraine s energy infrastructure. DW speaks to Olga Khakova, deputy director of European energy security at the Atlantic Council, about the implications for Ukraine s economy. Thousands of people are forced from their homes: Authorities say more than 40, 000 people live in the path of the floods, including in the regional capital Kherson. Many hectares of farmland are also underwater.
