Understanding In Bloom
Nirvana was one of the biggest bands of the early nineties, but what was so special about their sound Kurt Cobain was a gifted songwriter with a great ear for interesting harmonies, taking fairly standard ideas and twisting them just enough to make them sound unique. In Bloom is a great example: It s a clever blend of functional and nonfunctional ideas, borrowing from rock, punk, R B, and even jazz to create something entirely his own.
