The classical dances of India are Mohiniattam Kathakali (Kerala), Bharathanatyam (Tamil Nadu). Kathak (Uthar Pradesh), Odissi (Orissa), Kuchipudi (Andrapradesh), Manipuri(Manipur) and Sathriya (Assam). They all have their own identity but they have common features too. Each one has its own basics and style but all of them are in Harmony in aspects like the Abhinaya the expression, the Laya the rhythm and the Raga the melody, though the names may differ in the North and the South.
