The making of an animatronic alien puppet by Eva Taylor, NIDA s 3rd year Properties student
Third year Properties Objects student; Eva Taylor documented her major work; an animatronic alien puppet. The creature has an 8 way two stage animatronic tail in addition to animatronic lips, jaw and tongue. Head body and limbs are controlled via rods. Torso and limbs are handcarved from wood and deadened, encapsulated silicone used for muscle groups. The underskull is a fibreglass cast coated with a silicone skin. The tail has custom made segments of laser cut acrylic as housing for the wire mechanisms
