The Death of Scott La Rock
Scott La Rock, whose real name was Scott Monroe Sterling, was a prominent figure in the early days of hip hop as a DJ and producer. Unfortunately, his life was tragically cut short. Scott La Rock was fatally shot on August 27, 1987, in the Bronx, New York City. The incident occurred during a dispute over a stolen car stereo outside the Highbridge Homes housing project. Scott La Rock had accompanied fellow Boogie Down Productions (BDP) member, Derrick DNice Jones, to the location to mediate the situation. While trying to defuse the confrontation, Scott La Rock was struck by a bullet and tragically died from his injuries. He was only 25 years old at the time of his death.
