Gudmundsson joined FC Groningen in the summer of 2019. FC Groningen paid to Gabriels former club Halmstads BK. He played as a leftwinger. In his first season Gudmundsson played 11 games, because of injury s he missed most of the season. In the season 20202021 coach Danny Buijs turned Gabriel into a leftwing back. Which he is doing incredibly good. So good that big european clubs ar after Gudmundsson.
