Eurythmics Sexcrime 1984 Disco Purrfection Version
Imagine being one of the hottest new bands, coming off a, 1 single after years of underground activity, being asked to write and produce music for an important movie project starring Richard Burton, then being replaced after delivering said music by traditional music. That is exactly what happened to Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart of Eurythmics. The director of the film did not think that the music they provided was appropriate and unceremoniously removed it. I think it was a big mistake. The music on 1984 (For The Love Of Big Brother) was well produced, intelligent and moody, an otherworldly sounding soundtrack to a movie about the future and the movie itself John Hurt s entrancing performance still stands out, but the traditional contemporary music that replaced them does not stand on its own like the Eurythmics 1984 soundtrack which still sounds fresh and edgy was definitely ahead of its time.
