World Geopark Jeju: Natural Beauty and Mystery
In this video Kara Jue, a teacher at Branksome Hall Asia, goes on a Jeju geological journey She starts at Cheonjiyeon Waterfall, a UNESCOrecognized World Natural Heritage site which is a favorite with visitors because of its cool forest trail and natural spectacle. Kara then takes us a few hundred meters down to the coast to examine an important geological structure known as the Seogwipo Formation (a layer of volcanic and sedimentary rock). Kara even spots an ancient fossil in a boulder along the sea. Another amazing volcanic marvel is further along the coast at Daepo. The sixsided columnar joints are beautifully described by Kara as natural sculptures.
