This is Egyptian bellydancer Nemat Mokhtar dancing in a scene from the 1960 comedy The Magic Lantern (El Fanous el Sehri الفانوس السحرى ). The film starred Ismail Yassine, Kariman, Sharifa Maher and Abdel Salem al Nabulsi. You may notice that Ismail Yassin is pointing to himself at the start of the scene. This is because he plays the part of a man named Mustafa and, as any dancer or anyone who s ever been to an Arabic, Greek, Armenian, Macedonian, Turkish party already knows, the song is titled Ya Mustafa. Trivia: The lyrics to this song include the immortal words Chérie je t aime, chérie je t adore, como la salsa del pomodoro (I love you, I adore you, like tomato sauce).
