A day in the life of the British Ambassador to the Republic of Korea
Scott Wightman has served as the British Ambassador to the Republic of Korea since November 2011. In addressing the Royal Asiatic Society, Ambassador Wightman will reflect on his service in Seoul, key priorities and personal achievements. He will put the UKKorea bilateral relationship into historical context, charting its evolution and, importantly, how it should continue to evolve in the aftermath of President Park Geunhye s recent State Visit to London. Before being appointed British Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, Scott Wightman was Director for the Asia Pacific region in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). Prior to that he was Director for Global and Economic Issues, leading work in the FCO on climate change, energy security, trade policy and the global economy. He was the UK Soussherpa for the G8 Summit in Toyko in 2008.
